Kobe Bryant moved to within five points of 30,000 for his career with an eight-point opening quarter for the Los Angeles Lakers in their game tonight against the New Orleans Hornets, but they weren't enough to get the Lakers a lead.
New Orleans dominated the boards and held the Lakers to 36 percent shooting in the first period, and the Hornets enjoy a three-point lead as we head into the second quarter.
Mike D'Antoni seems intent on getting the ball to Howard. He's taken five shots already after getting just nine attempts all game in the Lakers' last contest.
It doesn't look like the Lakers are in for an easy one in the Big Easy tonight.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the game.
Hornets 23, Lakers 20—Start of 2nd quarter
