Anthony Davis has already had a tremendous year. He won an NCAA title with the Kentucky Wildcats, locked up 2012 National Player of the Year honors as a freshman, was selected first overall in the 2012 NBA draft by the New Orleans Hornets and capped it all off by winning a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Team USA.
Davis is no stranger to winning awards, and NBA Rookie of the Year is likely the next on his radar. As the first overall pick in the draft with all of the hype involved, Davis is the early favorite to win the award. However, there is a group of rookies threatening to steal the award out from underneath Davis’ unibrow.
We won’t know the true favorites to win the award until the season is in full swing, but here are seven early candidates who are the biggest threats to take what Davis has been projected to win during the 2012-2013 season.
