Team USA can be beaten, though they probably won't be. That seems to be the recent calculus, given that America had to come from behind to beat Lithuania for a narrow victory, then looked quite beatable in its following game against Argentina.
Australia could pose a challenge should Team USA take them lightly. While Andrew Bogut is out with an injury, the Aussies boast deft ball-handlers like Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova, both Saint Mary's products. Mills is more of a scorer, Dellavedova is more of a passer. Together, they should test an American defense that has struggled in these Olympics.
Offensively, the U.S. of course has a high-powered attack, orchestrated by Chris Paul and LeBron James. The two combined for 12 assists in the last game against Argentina, and both are feeding a hot-shooting Kevin Durant.
Whatever the opposition, America possesses the ability to outscore it.
